hot
Yet another log entry that has been deleted by the code of summitpost. Climbed this with my dog, Luna as our last (I think) of the trip down to AZ. Wife dropped us off and picked us up at the trailhead. Very hot, Luna did not like it. That top part went on and on.

South Summit
Banged out the nice scenic trail in an hour. Then bushwhacked through wet brush over to the southern summit which is only 1/3 of a mile away from the end of the trail but it took forever and royally sucked. Was hoping to nab the other further summit as well but the prospect of bashing through a mile more of brush to get over there was extremely unappealing.

One of the Best Sedona Hikes
Nice hike in Sedona and takes you through some of the most interesting geology in Sedona. Views from the top are superb!

Bear Mountain
Beautiful hike. From the end of the trail we hit the southern of the two peaks that make up the Bear Mountain massif. A bit of a bushwhack and some post holing to get to this point from the end of the trail. If you are only in it for the views and beautiful hike, stop at the end of the trail, as there are really no views from peak 6506.

It woke the bear inside me.
Nice trail, a bit braided at some parts but a good hike for Sedona. A long 2.5 miles up in my opinion.

Tough hike but worth the work
Probably the toughest 5 mile hike I've done, but my wife and I had a fun time and the views were great.

Almost didn't make it back from this one!
Started way too late in the morning for this one (9:45am). It being late July by the time we made it to the summit (12:20pm) it was extremely HOT and the sun was starting to wear me down. Took in the breathtaking views for a good while and started heading back down at around 1:00pm. Unfortunately, this mountain is not just up and down; there are a few ups on the way down!. Long story short, getting back to the parking lot was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life due to running out of water halfway down. Had a great time going up though and wouldn't have missed out on that experience for anything.

Brilliant Views
Climbed Bear Mt. with my wife & 2 month old son. Awesome hike with spectacular views!!
Awesome and then scary ... we didn't budget time very well hiking this in the winter, and the extended stay at the summit taking in the views turned into a scary descent in the dark with a 2 month old on chest. Without headlamps, we surely would have slept out there.
Ouch. Despite the fact that the summit is less than two miles away from the end of the trail, it's a long, bloody, painful distance. Still, great way to escape the heat!
My girlfriend and I started the hike later in the day so it was quite hot in the canyon at the beginning of the trail, but after we got out of the canyon and headed toward the summit it began to rain and the wind was very nice. Overall a great hike with wonderful views but I'd avoid it on hot days.

Awesome views and there was still a bit of snow left on the mountain, which made our dog very happy.
