crap road
With Warner Mountain closed due to wildfire aftermath, I did this one on the advice of a DFW officer I met on Light Peak, however, do NOT take Road 6916 in to the south base of Beatys unless you really hate the paint on your car. Grown in sagebrush tears it up. I learned the hard way. Easy up though and fast easy down. No refrigerator on top anymore, just some type of equipment and a solar panel running it.

Yuck
Long gravel then 4x4 road, 2 flat tires, 1 rattle snake and a refrigerator on top?

Jeep Track
Parked on the lower mountain off of the jeep track and followed the track to the top. Excellent view of the high desert peaks in SE Oregon.

Twin Springs
Parked car just beyond Twin Springs, about 27.5 miles from highway 140. Hiked nearly directly towards the summit, traversing up and long a shallow ridge line to avoid thicker sagebrush. Lots of smoke in all directions, but gradually clearing day by day.

Beautiful weather
Another fantastic winter hike in the high desert. Not a cloud in the sky, could see forever in any direction.
Unable to find the summitlog Dean and Dennis signed, relegated to signing the geocachers log.

Drive up
Continue on to the north side of the mountain, always turning right. At a small reservoir a jeep track goes up to the top. At a split we opted for a left turn, and walked up the last 1.4 miles. The right turn would have been an easy 4wd ride to a small flat just below the summit.
Beautiful day, spectacular flowers.

Hard drive easy hike
Five hour drive from Klamath Falls. 1.5 hours from the car to the summit. Cloudless sky, hot wind, 8 antelope near the top trying to stay cool.
Route Climbed: South slopes - west ridge Date Climbed: July 3, 2005
The wildflowers on the west ridge were terrific, and they were like perfume in the pleasant breeze. Where the road crosses the creek it was all rutted out, so I parked next to a vacated camp. Upon my return it was every hiker's dream - free cold beer at the trailhead offered by the camp's occupants. The two couples were doing some sort of botany survey in the area, and were very friendly indeed.
