Very much enjoyed your report of your hikes! Freel Peak area is one of my favorites...such a unique area. Your pictures are beautiful..but a bit emotional too because just that same day the fire broke out..so to see the clear view and then to know just hours after it was full of smoke and burning..kinda sad to me.
The day before I was standing on Pryamid peak looking at a crystal clear view...how fast things can change.

I went from joy to sadness very quickly that day. It was horrible. We had just descended after a great trip, and then we see the black smoke high up in the sky. A wall of fire taking over the sky. Firetrucks and police racing towards the fire. It really makes you feel like we are losing our natural splendor to ever-increasing temperatures and drought conditions.
