Thanks for the vote. There's interesting climbing all over the mountain. but if you're into aid climbing & overhangs, the north is certainly the place - but not on a hot Queensland summer day! Don't forget this is the SOUTHERN hemisphere.
Nice page. Its nice to see Australia has some "pointy peaks". All the ones we saw when we were there were rounded, but I've heard Tasmania has some really rugged peaks, and hope to make it down there.
G'day Scott, Yeah, I'm anxious to show folks that there is stuff worth climbing here even though we don't have much in the way of glamorous snow covered peaks. (Except for winter climbing in Kosziusko NP and Tassie of course). My next page will be Mt Warning/Wollumbin which is similar to Beerwah but much bigger in Northern NSW. Looks like your international meet is coming together after all - just not the way you expected. Top idea. Hope it works out well.
Yeah I'm currently in Melbourne, but I'm definitely gonna climb something on this continent :-) Probably something on Tasmania and New Zealand.. But I haven't made up my mind yet...
Think i crashed an A380 into that thing on accident. Was a wee bit off course in dense fog... If you're hiking there, look one-third of the way down from the summit on the eastern side. Wreckage should be still there.
Any possibility of seeing a Glasshouse Mts. page popping up anytime soon???
Yeah, I guess so. Apart from Beerwah and Tibrogargan, there are some oher climbs around here. Coonowrin is problematical because I havenĀ“t tried to climb it (because of the ban) and I would much prefer that someone who has might come along and submit a page on it But there is also Ngungun which is a lesser peak but with good rockclimbing available as well as some nioce hikes up Tibrowoocum and other strangely named local landmarks. When I get time I suppose I should do an area page and link beerwah and Tibro along with the other features around here.
Thanks for the heads-up. I'll have a look at those links and see what I can do.
-And yes, the "summit track" is still closed. The problem is that the "Organ Pipes" collapsed and left large (and small) boulders sitting precariously above the track itself and the route from the track head up to the Organ Pipes. (The route is pretty much in a direct line under the loose boulders) We have been scoping around on the west side to see if we can't find an alternative (Project delayed by 4 weeks of shit weather lately -there's a lot of boggy sedge around the base on the west side)

Broken linkHey dadndave,
Just a quick notice: the image and link right at the top of the page are both broken. (Is the route actually still closed?)
Cheers,
Rick
