An old fav
Funny that it didn't occur to me to sign this climber's log - I've probably climbed/skinned it more than any other mountain.

Danny On Trail
Hiked the Danny On Trail to the top. Lots of ripe huckleberry bushes along the way and nice fall colors made the hike very enjoyable. Remarkable views from the top towards Glacier National Park.

Skinned and Skied
I also climbed this last summer up the face. Last weekend was a glorious spring skin and ski. Love there's a bar at the top. Skin, summit, have a drink to celebrate, ski down to Hellroaring bar, lunch...drink to celebrate...enjoy the sun on the deck. Yea, it was awful....awful good! ;-)

Many Times
Just had to sign the log for posterity lol.
It's great training to hike up and ski down if you're trying to stay in shape over the winter!
I've climbed this one several times, at all times of the year, but the first one was right after moving to Montana in 2009. I didn't really know the Danny On was there, so I went up what ended up being the Big Ravine. So nice to live in a town with a mountain this close!

Too Rainy in Glacier
We were going to hike to Sperry Chalet in GNP, but it was raining too hard in the park, so we sought higher elevation where it might be snowing and decided on Big Mountain. Had snowshoes strapped to our packs the whole way up, but never used them in the well-packed snow. The summit lodge was so packed, there wasn't a table available.

Slow going up, quick going down!
Stayed at the Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish. Borrowed bikes from the hotel and rode to the base of the ski resort. Hiked to the top, passed a bit of a snowfield. Really nice, fairly easy hike. Saw some crazy downhill mountain bikers! Took probably 4-5 hours to get to the top including the bike ride and then we took the gondola down and rode our bikes down. Took less than 20 minutes! What a great day! Loved my first trip to MT! :)
PS the gondola isn't free anymore, it's $5 one way

Big Mountain
Nice easy hike. HUGE amounts of people at the summit and some parts of the trail. The most crowded summit I have ever been on.
