Climbed once in October, rain at the base, whiteout at the summit. Hiked again in Sept. and was clouded in above the Brothers. I will attempt again on a sunny day.
Hiked up via the Brothers on a beautiful Fall day.. Amazing views the entire trip up.

nice spring day
It was a nice spring day, so I decided to go up Big Slide, and check out it's views. The Brothers Route delivers some great views of the Great Range! It was damn muddy after the second Brother. Some rotten snow to deal with as well, that slowed me down. But hey, what are you going to do. It's the Adirondacks, it's muddy year round. At least there were no bugs to be dealt with.
Views of Great Range were as good as described. Scrambling on brothers was also very enjoyable.

Slide Brook
Turned back on Haystack because of wind and decided to do Big Slide on the way out. Went up via Slide Brook--long climb. Beautiful views from the top. Some of the best! Beautiful sunny day, just windy, but at least not windy on the summit. Descended via The Brothers. Windy and cold on the hike out, but great views of the Great Range! : )

Via The Brothers
The views on this hike were better than anything I have ever experienced in the Adirondacks. I had only hiked from the Loj previously. Standing on the second brother was akin to walking a ridgeline in any impressive mountain range. The second brother has been my favorite ADK viewspot to date. Enjoy the last .29 miles of the climb: Very steep rock in some sections.
Climbed as a warmup to Gothics after a long drive to LP. Got a late start so walked the last hour in pitch black. Rained sideways the whole way. Good views of Armstrong and the Wolf Jaws but Gothics was shrouded in with clouds. Bringing my son back to do this one...

Big Slide Mountain
Climbed via Big Slide Mountain Trail from the Garden. Definately one of the most senic hikes in the Adirondacks. The views of the Lower Great Range were fantastic and the summit ledge was a great place to have a well-deserved snake. Descended via Garden trail to John's Brook Lodge.
