Big Snow for Utah ?

My brother inspects a late season snowfield in Utah's Stansbury Mountains. At a "crevasse" located at 9,600-ft, he measured the depth of the snowfield to be approximately 35-ft deep at the base of the cirque. The snow collects here from springtime avalanches, but this is still a lot of snow (remaining) for the final week in July. My question is : Will the upcoming winter 2011-2012 be another BIG snow year for northern Utah ??? Only time will TELL ... July 23, 2011

This is where I grew up as a young lad.

As kids, we would climb this snowfield and
throw rocks down into South Willow Lake.

Our purpose was to measure the depth of the
snowfield. Back in the 1970's, there was
much LESS snow to measure at this elevation.

My brother is a snow whisperer, and I have
not yet received my "wings" as becoming a
true mountaineer ..
