Route Climbed: Fire Warden's Trail to the AT Date Climbed: 8/21/05
It started out as a rainy, dreary day, but we were determined to bag West and Avery in our 4K list. The peaks were really fogged/cloudy, but it was so amazing. Not much of a view because of the weather, but very surreal. Definately my favorite peaks thus far. I'm definately going to go back on a better day once I've bagged the 67.
Route Climbed: Up the AT down Firewardens Date Climbed: 8/24/98
I arrived late and made a dash over the Bigelow West and Avery Peak. Saw a group of moose on the way down in near dark. A must see again kind of place. Magic.

Route Climbed: Fire Wardens Trail to the AT to Horns Pond Trail Date Climbed: July 30, 2005
Went up the fire Wardens trail up to the col between Avery and West Peaks. Took the AT over three of the higher summits - Avery Peak, West Peak, and South Horn. Continued on the AT to the shore of Horns Pond where I took the Horns Pond trail back to the Fire Wardens trail. Gotta be one of the nicer loops in the northeast.
Edited to add: Very cool hike in the winter. Got both Avery and West Peak in January 2007.

The many tripsI have hiked this probably six times in the past two years, great days even when it was raining. Probably the most majestic string of peaks in Maine
