Solo. Lucky Friday the 13th hike from Fish Creek. Made the mistake of going straight up the sandy talus. Came down the use trail. I notice not a lot of sigs for this one.

Traverse from Dragon's Head
After descending from Dragon's Head to The Tarn, followed faint trail straight up to the summit. Peak 2 of 3 for the day.

Vivian Creek TH
Beautiful day for hiking. Left the Vivian Creek Trail at around 10,200' and sidehilled (relatively unpleasant) down to the creek then up the drainage to the east. Nice views from the top. Climbed up to Dragon's Head afterwards.

Whoops -
...I stayed on Vivian Creek trail too long and nearly ended up on Gorgonio. Took the Mineshaft trail and skidded down the sandy drainage, crossed the tarn and attacked Bighorn on her flank. Hmmmm, no Bighorns in sight but a couple of eagles were circling, very wonderful to watch.
Perfect cool weather (70's) considering it was over 100 at home. :P
Next stop - Dragonshead.

Via San Gorgonio
Went up Vivian Creek Trail to summit of San Gorgonio. Then dropped down Gorgonio's south face, across the Tarn (10,600') and headed left for the summit of Bighorn. Then, back down to the Tarn and traversed upward westerly to a saddle below Dragons Head and then up the sharp narrow ridge to Dragon's summit. We descended across a small creek back toward the Vivian Creek Trail and picked up that trail about a mile above the "look out" point.

From Fishcreek Saddle
Did as part of Sierra club backpack. Camped at fish creek saddle. Did Dragons head, Bighorn, and Lake as dayhike from fish creek saddle. Dragons Head and Bighorn are great hikes, you have to go down into the "Tarn" which looks like a huge dry sandy lakebead and back up (from San Gorgonio trail).

Worth the detour
More interesting than its neighbor, San Gorgonio. If you're tired of the crowds on San Gorgonio and the monotony of the trail, take this off-trail diversion.
