An Ovis canadensis nelsoni, or Nelson's bighorn sheep, just off the trail on Mt San Antonio, aka Mt Baldy. Taken just below the ski hut.

Thanks...

...but I have to chalk it up mostly to luck. We rounded a corner, and he was 10 feet from us. And he just stood there while we snapped away.

Beautiful Bighorn

The only bighorn sheep I've seen were perched high on cliffs or at a wildlife center. I would love seeing one of these amazing animals up close and personal in the wild. Thank you for sharing. :-)
