It really is imposing the way it towers above the sea, like a tremendous wall. Climbs are very exciting while views down towards shore are breathtaking.
:-) Thanks Sven for the vote! I hope you had a good time although it is already quite hot. If you hiked from the coast I guess you shirt was rewarded with lot of sweat :-)
Shame on me, but since we had to travel from Zagreb and reach heights in same day, we decided to use Biokovo road until Sv. Jure hut and then start walking to Lokva, later Sv. Ilija, Sibenik... etc. Even up there it was pretty hot, more than 25 deg. C at daytime. I intended to write trip report, but did not have enough time yet.
Once again I stumbled over one of those excellent pages. Wow! Gotta go back to the area, now when I have unlimited amounts of info. I seemed to have missed out on so much...in my pre-SP-days.
I was in the area in late fall/early winter 1999. My plan was originally to go straight towards the north from Hungary, but couldn't resist the temptation to go south for a while instead. Croatia, Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia. Had very lousy maps and basically choose road by flipping a coin. I climbed some in the area and one day when back home, I have to find out what I actually climbed. I'm sure your pages will be of very good help.
I was planining today to say to you that you must create this page because you was in Biokovo area few days ago. But, after checking if Biokovo now exist on SP or not, i meat your page, hahaha... Where i was in February 2005 when page was created? Sorry, Acika! Yes, really looks as Julian Alps!

Untitled CommentVery imposing range. I especially liked the photo of the parade of clouds coming down the coast to the town.
