Re: Very coolBison Peak is near Tarryall Reservoir in the Retirement Range. I recommend John & Jennifer Roach's book on summit hikes in the Lost Creek Wilderness. I'm heading there this weekend, in fact. Happy hiking!

Awesome Shot! This area is amazing. I was here on a cloudy and overcast day, and the overabundant rock formations made it even more eerie and Mars-like. Nice one!

Re: Awesome Shot! Thanks for the feedback. I love these mountains. They may not be as grand as the 14ers around the state, but they make up for it with their...strangeness of rock formations.

Re: Nice shot!Mark,
Here is more Summit Post information about Bison Peak.
http://www.summitpost.org/mountain/rock/151572/bison-peak.html
This monolith in the photo is near the summit of Bison Peak.
From a geological standpoint, Bison Peak and McCurdy Mountain and others in the area are part of the same "uplift" that formed Pikes Peak. Amazing!
Keep hiking!

Re: Nice picThis is one amazing part of Colorado. And the best part? No 14ers + very few trails to summits = NO BODY! My husband and I have hiked all day in this area without seeing another soul. Priceless!
Cheers!
Sarah
