Black Canyon Lake, Late Afternoon

Black Canyon Lake, Late Afternoon

And a hint of weather to come. Unable to handle the down time I faced after setting up camp out here at about 3 P.M., I went up Thunder Mountain at about 5, gambling on the weather and ready to turn back if necessary. Despite appearances, all I ever got was some light rain, and that was brief. The sky cleared for a wonderful sunset as I enjoyed my bacon and snow-chilled beer. The peak on the left is called Spirit Mountain. Beartooth Mountains, MT-- June 2010

Also great camping...

on the other side of the lake. Much better than this side. Great shot of Spirit Mountain though. That's one of my favorite Beartooth peaks!

Re: Also great camping...

Never been to the other side, but everything I've read confirms your remark that it's not much fun hiking over to it!
