Great hike - beautiful range in the Northern Catskills.

Wonderful Mountain Range
Climbed several times from all directions, last time was March of 2007 with sub zero temps.

part 1 of the day
From the Big Hollow trailhead I took the Batavia Kill trail to the Escarpment trail, which is a great little hike. FRom there I headed over to Black Dome and Thomas Cole, then made my way back and took the Black Dome trail back to Big Hollow. It was a cool day for August in the morning, and there was absolutley clear skies. Not too many people out there for a Sunday.

Best Short Catskill Adventure
Starting in 10 degree F weather at Black Dome Valley the route over Acra point without snowshoes was knee deep. At the top, for a short time, the wind was blowing fearsomly with only a few feet visibility and you would think it was the remote Artic.
