Awesome day on the AT
Actually had the summit to myself both times. Ran a 50k from Woody gap running 15-miles out and then back so had two passes over Blood Mountain. My first time on the AT. Great epic day I'll never forget! Great mountain!
This was the end of a three day hike with my son. - Much easier than Katahdin that I did two years earlier. - A little steep with switchbacks and some light scrambling. - Views are good when you get to them. - few and far in between as you're under the canopy most of the time. (Green Tunnel as the AT thru-hikers call it.) - But that pretty much describes most of the AT. - There was plenty of water sources through our 30+ mile, Southbound hike (Hiawasee to Blood Mountain.)

Did this as part of a two night backpack of the AT. Fun mountain and not that crowded on a Tuesday evening.

Fantastic View
Day 4 of our AT hike - breakfast on the summit with sunshine above and low clouds blowing through. A wonderful view, not to be missed.

Hot and humid
Georgia humidity rivals Indiana for sure! Hot and sweaty ascent, mostly had the trail to myself. Met some pretty cool through hikers at the top and chatted for a bit. A beautiful day!

Not A Clear Autumn Day
Cloudy with a few sprinkles of rain on top. A nice route from Neel's Gap, tho. I imagine the bare rock gives great views when it's not so cloudy. Will have to do this one again.
This is my favorite hike in North GA. Always meeting great folks here...

AT SoBo section hike from Neels Gap
So, I'll save the story another time and place as to how we ended up SoBo at this point... We enjoyed the hike up from Neels Gap. The day was clear and the humidity low for this part of the country. The views from the top were astounding.

Fog and rain kept the view from being spectacular but it was still a fun morning hike.

First
First climb in GA, first hike in GA, first time exploring in N.GA! Great hike with so much to see. Did it as an afternoon hike, using Vogel S.P. as base camp. Very rainy couple days, as it added to the experience. Nice destination hike with the option of a day loop. Enjoyed by all.

Bitter cold and beautiful
Hiked to the summit via Bryon Reece trail on the coldest day so far this year! The air was remarkably clean and crisp. Very cold strong headwind hiking toward the north on the switchbacks. Easily one of the best mountain hikes in GA.

Thunderstorms
Fun hike but much tougher than I expected. Dont remember what trail we took but it was about 8 miles to the shelter. Very hot, and then very thunderstormy and scary. But a real fun hike. We were too tired too hike the 8 miles back to the car the next day so we hiked down to the store and someone was nice enough to drive us to our car for $20. Fun adventure.

Ahh, honeymoon hiking
This was the first mountain that I'd ever climbed/hiked. Contrary to what my hubby believes I wasn't stressed out, I was hungry, thirsty, and getting tired. Other than that the hike wasn't that bad. It was quite hot even though it was getting on in the afternoon and it was quite nice at the top.

Ascent of Both Faces, One Day
Soloed up from Walasi-Yi, then down the other end to climb Slaughter Mountain, and back up on my way out. By the way, I parked at the store, completely missing the fact that hikers aren't supposed to park there, but got away with it.
