Nice hike via AT
A beautiful August day - about 80 degrees F, pretty low humidity - was the setting for this hike. I did the AT section from Blue Mountain Road to Brink Road and back.
Very easy hike once we got to the trailhead (read my comments, I was an idiot today). Out with the shepard for a nice afternoon hike, really quick hike from road end to AT then 5 minutes to blue, 10 to bird and another 15 to rattlesnake. Was late getting there so decided to enjoy the view and have some lunch instead of bagging paradise which had a good down and up to reach it. Great afternoon.

Halloween hike
Last halloween I went and did some hiking in NJ, so I figured I would make a tradition out of it, and do it again this year. Brink Rd. is a road, but it is not meant for cars at all. I parked at a lot for Tillman Ravine, and walked a short distance to the road, and then walked on the road a bit past the shelter and took a side trail up to the A.T. I followed the A.T. south to Rattlesnake on a nice fall day. Walked back to the shelter, and then to the road, to my car.

Route Climbed: Bushwack from valley and A.T. over Bird and Blue Mts. Date Climbed: May 7, 2005
I only climbed Bird and Blue Mts. because of road closeings. The plan was to go from Buttermilk Falls and climb Mt. Paradise, Rattlesnake, Bird, and Blue Mts. and go to Brink Rd. shelter to sleep. Because I had to work during most of the day there was no time for change of plan. I bushwacked up from a old woods road about 1 mile from Walpack Cematary, and did not have time to do Rattlesnake or Paradise. So i just did Bird and Blue Mts. Will Return for Rattlesnake and Mt. Paradise.

After a long day of hiking in the rain on very little sleep, today came as a real joy. Bright sun and unseasonably warm temperatures made the traverse across the meadows of Bird really glorious. Unfortunately, we missed the turn for the AT and ended up down near the (equally nice) swamp. Had to backtrack a mile. Finally managed a nice lunch on the rocks of Rattlesnake. Headed south and crashed near Catfish Ledges several hours after dark.
