peak 10 of 10 during a 4 day Pemi loop backpack trip

Fourth of four for the day
This is where I sat and had dinner before retracing my steps. One of the very best ridgelines in NH. Not a place where you want to be in a thunderstorm though.

My favorite in the Pemis!
I bagged this peak as part of a 1.5 day Pemi Loop trip where I bagged 10 4K summits in all (plus a few that didn't count). The weather was incredible, but the ridge line was bone dry and had I been smart I would have refilled my water at Liberty Spring because I was desperate by the time I was coming off Garfield. My favorites of them all were West Bond and Bondcliff where solitude abounded and the stark beauty of the ledges around the summits made for great places to quietly sit and appreciate what God has made for us to experience if we just step out of our comfort zone a bit.

A great peak to hit. Amazing views into the Pemigewasset Wilderness. This was peak #10 over our 5-day backpacking trip from Franconia Notch to Crawford Notch.

Pemi loop backpack
So far my favorite summit of the Whites.
Did a Pemi Loop over 2.5 days with a couple of friends. Going counter clockwise, camped at Guyot and Garfield tent sites. Saw an awesome lightning over a town to the north storm from Garfield; got hailed on in a lightning storm on the way out on the last day. Had a bottle of Bowmore with us.
Climbed with my dad, brother, and sisters. We started at Lincoln Woods and traversed the ridge line to Zealand Falls. The views were amazing. We were all really tired after the first day.

Finished the NH 48 here!
Wow, what can I say? I saved this one for last, and it was well worth it. I had the summit to myself, until a guy came down from Mt. Bond. He congratulated me on finishing the NH 48, and it turns out he was originally from NJ. This was a very happy day for me.
Traversed the ridge via Zealand and out Lincoln Woods.

First crampon trip!
Hiked in from Lincoln woods. Camped at the Bondcliff trail junction and then snowshoed/hiked up. Put on crampons near the top and practiced proper techniques. This was one of my favorite trips this year.

My favorite
I've done this one several times. Once you get past the first 7 miles of the Wilderness Trail, which is flat and very easy, you get some of the best hiking and views in the Whites. This is usually done along with Mt Bond, and West Bond. There is a nice place to camp before you get to the steep section below Bondcliff. It requires crossing the stream, and I couldn't possibly describe how to find it. If you ask the rangers they can usually help describe it.

Worth the trudge
It's a long way to the summit but worth the trek.

This was part of a great trip across the Pemi as part of the AMC's MLS. The trails and views were outstanding. I highly recommend the route.

Long Day
Hiked up from Liberty Springs. Up the railroad grade to Bondcliff Trail and then up the rocky steps to Bond Cliff. Short break there and then over to Mt. Bond.

Bondcliff
Climbed with Zeland via the Twinway Trail from Galehead. A truely fantastic mountain in every respect. Climbed on a perfect day after getting rained on the day before. Great views in every direction along the entire ridge. Plenty of blueberries too. I can't think of another mountain in New Hampshire that it this spectacular while maintaining a true wilderness feeling.

Aborted one-day Pemi-Loop
Managed 29 miles and 6100 vertical feet on a day with wet and muddy trails, intermittent rain, and three shoe-soaking, nerve-rattling stream crossings on the Franconia Brook Trail. Took 15+ hours.
