Acclimatization hike
Nice hike going up, clear weather, good 360 degrees view. I had to walk through snow patches on the way, but the top part was dry rock. It can be done in running shoes.

Warmup
Did as part of Aconcagua acclimatization. Horrible scree slopes on the way up but great fun skiing down them on the descent. Should have taken a camera as the views from the top are excellent.

My first 16er!
Nice peak for an easy, relaxing half day excursion. We had a few days left after climbing Aconcagua so we added a trip up Bonete to the agenda. Great views of Aconcagua. My GPS gave an elevation of 5045 meters on the summit.
From my perspective, that´s a big mountain to be calling a practice/gear-testing/acclimitization hike, but that´s what it was. A pleasant day-hike from Plaza de Mullas, with fantastic views in all directions. And the first time to 5000m for Werfel. Woo hoo!

East Face - Normal Route
Great acclimatization hike with superb views of Aconcagua's West Face. For the summit elevation, again it's a case of poor surveying. The true summit elevation is 16605 +/-30 feet, according to GPS, mine and other's. So when you're at 16417 feet, and the summit is still about 200 feet above you, blame the surveyors.

A very easy scramble turned into a quite scary experience due to strong winds on the summit ridge. Crawling along to the summit a bit worried about being blown off the peak.

Nice walk trough the valley to the west of Aconcagua basecamp. Some snowfields were annoying but not difficult. The scree part under the summit pyramid were a bit boring. I really felt the thin air at the summit. The airy parts close to the summit are not dangerous, but just exciting. Nice, even hot weather at the summit. Perhaps about 10 degrees celsius and no wind.
