Wagon Road Trail  Sucess!

Hiked up the Wagon Road Trail from Young Harris College. Nice, gradual hike.

Southern 6-pack  Sucess!

Second of a 6 state HP weekend. Flew into Knoxville, then hit the HPs for TN, GA, SC, NC, KY and VA. This is my 41st state HP. Surprisingly, I had the summit all to myself considering it was a Friday in May. Unfortunately, the tower wasn't open yet.

6th State HP  Sucess!

Took Jack's Knob Trail from the bottom of the 180 spur. Beautiful, warm, sunny day with no clouds in the sky.

One of the best highpoint gift shops Ive seen  Sucess!

Had planned on making a real hike out of it but somehow missed the turnoff after finding the national forest sign and next thing I knew, I was in the parking lot. Still, I got some good leg stretching on the walk up from there and some nice views. First of two (TN) that day.

It Was Just One Of Those Days  Sucess!

I counted the switchbacks as we came back down Jack's Knob trail. It was hazy at the top. No views and it was another one of those steep paved trails from the parking lot.

HP #17  Sucess!

Start of a six highpoint swing. Completely fogged out. Saw absolutely nothing but clouds. But great to check it off the list.

HP # 18  Sucess!

A beautiful day turned drizzly and cloudy. No view at the summit today but I made it. Bypassed the shuttle to the top so I could climb the trail that started from the main parking lot. The observation tower was closed when I was there but there was no view anyway. Oh well.

nice spring day  Sucess!

Fun afternoon in the sun on a warm spring day. We were surprised that the summit was almost deserted with such easy access and good weather. Hazy but very pleasant day exploring the N. Georgia mountains with Lillian, Kate, and Ed. "Climbed" enough state highpoints to actually stop and tally them up...this is #15 for me.

Another one of those 'drive-ups'..  Sucess!

But if you down-climb to the road and hike back-up... it still counts!

HP #15  Sucess!

Attempted the Arkaquah Trail late in the afternoon after high pointing in Mississippi and Alabama earlier that same day. I had hoped to reach Brasstown Bald before sundown and hike back in the dark. It didn't work out. I crested a mountain with the sun already set and the overlook tower was still a mountain away. I turned around. Being pressed for time, I ended up high pointing the next day from the parking lot.

Great hike, but very very cold!  Sucess!

I did this hike at around 10 am. and it was 21 degrees. That's not including the windchill. There was snow on top and also a great view!

Excellent view and sunset  Sucess!

Visited the folks in Douglasville during Thankgiving and couldn't resist the urge to knock out a quick high pointer, not to mention getting away from the chaotic family get together. I took my brother, out of shape, but he enjoyed the hike from the parking lot. We caught the sunset and gorgeous views over looking ranges all the way to the horizon.

In Memory of My Dad  Sucess!

My Dad lived in Atlanta, GA. I was working in KY and drove down for his funeral. I climbed this on my drive back in his memory. I don't know if he had ever gone here or not, but this day he went to the top with me.

Quick day trip  Sucess!

Went up the easy way from the parking lot. Nice little trail. The weather wasn't bad either. Great view from the observation deck. Really one of the best views in GA. But I guess I should expect that with the parking fee and the enormous development of the summit area. Still, I guess I had to come here at least once, being an 18 year resident of GA.

HP #14  Sucess!

Got there after the tower was closed but we hiked up to the observation deck. Really great views and a nice Highpoint. Very pretty country around there. Almost hit a bear in the road leaving the place too.

Enjoyable Hike...  Sucess!

I opted to hike up and down from the summit. The views from the observation deck were spectacular, and the interpretive center (exhibits) had a lot of resourceful information. I would not mind visiting this HP again sometime in the future.

This was my sixth and final State Highpoint reached during Memorial Day weekend, and State Highpoint #38 for me overall.

Cold and Cloudy  Sucess!

We hiked up Jack's Knob trail - pretty tough "moderate" hike - felt like we'd earned it when we reached the top. Some cars and people up at the summit, but Jack's Knob trail was just us. Low clouds had the summit socked in. HP #15.
