HP #7  Sucess!

Did this one after Alabama, it just felt dirty claiming this as a highpoint

Highpoint # 20  Sucess!

Since my company decided to shut down from Dec 25 - Jan 1 and my fiancee (unluckily for him/luckily for me) works retail, I booked a flight South to tackle 2 more highpoints. Britton Hill - check. Next stop is AL.

a heady climb  Sucess!

After driving many, many hours down the spine of Alabama, the trailhead (parking lot) of Lakewood Park was a very welcome sight. The trail was intense, climbing nearly a foot while searching the numerous signs in the park to find the official high point monument, probably 100 ft away from the aforementioned parking lot (and I didn't even bring hydration!). Nonetheless, I did find the monument, though I'm not completely convinced that the ground hasn't subsided, possibly leaving the official spot a bit lower than some of the surrounding ground. It is a nice park though, and after such a long drive, the 1/2 mile + walk through the nature trails curated by the local garden club was indeed pleasant. They do a nice job maintaining the park.

Britton Hill - Highpoint #1  Sucess!

Very easy to get to! This will probably be the simplest highpoint.

My first US State Highpoint  Sucess!

This was the first stop in my journey to summit the 48 contiguous US High Points before I turn 40. My wife and I made a long weekend trip, visiting Tallahassee and other areas in northwest Florida while visiting Britton Hill and checking this first location off my list.

Pro Tip: Beware of cat!

High Point #1  Sucess!

My very first state to "high point". Got confused, was expecting a USGS marker like on mountains, but only the small stone monument denotes it. If you're ever driving I-10, easy detour during a trip

Essentially a drive up, perfect day....  Sucess!

This is Florida. I flew into Memphis. I then proceeded on a 1,955-mile road trip through the southern states to bag the highpoints in MO, AR, LA, FL, AL, and MS. Here is FL, highpoint number 21/51 for me and ranked 51/51. This is a drive-up highpoint. There is parking for 25 cars. During the entire time, I was there not one vehicle passed in either direction. The highpoint is well represented. It has clean restrooms and a lovely picnic area with gazebos.

HP #8!  Sucess!

Did a Tough Mudder during the day, then drove to this highpoint. Simple park, walk a short distance to the marker. Similar to Hoosier Hill, Indiana.

Quiet Spot  Sucess!

Alone on an early morning. Nothing much to see. Bugs were bad. It doesn't get any "lower" than this.

Peak #51 [NonaRider]  Sucess!

May be a joke of a peak, but a peak is a peak and I plan to climb all of them :D

HP #5  Sucess!

On our way back from a family trip to Florida from Texas we hit this HP. We decided to leave FL late at night and drive till we got tired. All of us got out of the car and shivered in the cold air while blinded by the car's beams to take a sleepy photo by the HP sign and marker.

Careful of the fire ants!  Sucess!

Highpoint # 33 for me, and HP # 1 for my 3-yr old son, who got attacked by fire ants close to the monument. A small price to pay!

Finally.... Florida  Sucess!

11:29 am. On a 3 week RV trip. Hit 4 state highpoints. Dogs in tow. Had the "summit" all to ourselves. Wow... this one is way off in the boondocks. Nice little park though. We have passed by the exit (off of I-10) at least half dozen times but we couldn't take the time to nab this highpoint. Finally planned it into our trip and got it.

Larvitour Stop #11  Sucess!

Good thing I brought my Gore-Tex to this one, since I had to force my way through a line of sprinklers to reach the high point. Nice display, Florida. :)

#28  Sucess!

After Georgia and South Carolina I drive straight down here immediately after. The north face was 6 grueling pitches of WI 6 and M11. I was eventually able to make it up death trap couloir to the summit. Avalanche conditions were high.
