Brokeoff Mtn. Trail
Celebrating my birthday weekend. Nothing like bagging a county highpoint with the wife. A very cool hike, prefer this peak over Lassen.

CHILL
Way chiller than Lassen. more stuff to see and do. and you can skinny dip in forest lake!!!!!

Trail
A nice hike to the summit. A lot more fun than Lassen Peak, more wildlife and a nice swim at Forest Lake on the way down, and nobody on the trail. Realized there is enough time to climb Lassen and Brokeoff in the same day.

Beautiful
I recommend Lassen in the morning before it gets crowded (i.e. 9am) and Tahama after lunch although bring lots of water the first couple miles in the forest were hot. Definitely appreciated the diversity of scenery and vegetation (vs Lassen).

Brokeoff Mt Trail
Solo. Nice hike, but f'in hot. Stopped and took a nap in the shade. I wanted to traverse to Mt Lassen, but couldn't find a safe place to descend to the ridge. Hitched hiked back to Summit L campgrounds.
A quick day hike with Rick Kent. Snow all the way from the SW entrance parking lot. Rick had snowshoes and I didn't = some postholing. Still we made up & down in 3 hrs or so. Killer view down the north face of Brokeoff.

Enjoy great views without the crowded summit. The meadows and alder groves on the way up are lovely.

The hikers trail
it was a little windy, but i liked the views of Lassen
the year may have been earlier, but I finally found a nutty partner to join me on a line I had been scouting for years. We did it in Febuary and it was a fine alpine climb of AI2, WI3, 5.6. very unstable rock, expect manky belays. Surmounting the cornice at the top was the grand finish! leave enough rope to get you past the fracture line to belay the 2nd! it was about 30 ft back when we did it. another variation to our left was climbed the following season by a different party.

Brokeoff Mtn Trail
Hiked Snow Mtn around noon, Brokeoff in the late afternoon. The weather was crappy all day and I got no views on either peak. Sigh. Trip Report
A day after the congestion on Lassen, my wife and I hiked this lovely, underrated peak and saw only 10 others the whole day. Somehow she got a bee in her sweatpants!

Nice hike. Still a lot of snow on the trail. We lost the trail several times but we manage to find our way to the top. Great views of Lassen Peak, Mount Shasta, and the rest of the park.

Snowy July!
90% snow to the top, but a fun, fine descent. Met Aaron and Ellen on the summit, who live just a few blocks from us in Oakland. Imagine that! County highpointed in Butte County yesterday: calm forest walk on the PCT.

South Slope
A clear day and a relatively easy ascent, although the last part of the South Slope was pretty icy since I started so early and crampons were needed for some of the very short 30-35 degree parts. 5 hours car-to-car.
