with Jack’s Peak
Took about ninety minutes to hit the summit of Burro Peak on the CDT from the northwest. Another thirty minutes to the steel forest on Jack’s. The plastic summit register jar got chewed through by mice and they devoured or scattered all of the paper so if someone is heading up there bring a mini notebook, pencil, and glass jar if you can. Be aware there are wild boar living on the mountain also; they initially advanced on me when we spotted each other and didn’t run until I raised a melee weapon and charged them.

Though we nearly lost our dog, this was a nice, quiet hike and good way to rehabilitate a broken leg.

A nice day
A sunny, but windy day. This was my first time in the Gila National Forest and I was impressed. The trail was easy to hike. I saw a herd of deer and two wolves. Along the trail were several old foundations of houses.

Great weekend in the Silver City area
Nice 9-mile RT hike on the Continental Divide Trail. Caught the CDT trailhead south of Burro near NM 90. Great trail and wx conditions. Not much of a view on the summit but still a good time and well worth it.

Just before a snow storm
This was a last minute decision after some other plans fell through. The hike and trail were a nice change from the normal bushwhacking of Southern NM. A snow squall hit the peak a short while after I finished my hike.
