I hiked this one, while my roomate drove the road to the top. We both made it in time for the sunrise. Beautiful views in every direction!

Short Acadia Sample
Busy summit with all the drivers, but the views were well worth it. Most visitors probably take the road as the trail was not crowded at all.

Rainy run to the summit
I was in town for a friends wedding and needed a place to run so I decided to run up the southern trailhead from otter bay. A nice 3.5 mile run each way and the weather looked to be finally clearing after days and days of rain. The granite trail was more like a stream so I found myself tiptoeing my way up to avoid getting soaked and getting hotspots, but that was futile. By about half way up the views were mildly obstructed by receding fog but it was still beautiful looking out over the Atlantic Ocean. Then another band of rain came with its associated fog, shrouded the summit and proceeded to rain on me all the way up and back down which seems to be all too normal for me when summiting mountains.
The run was nice though I would have liked to have been able to experience the breathtaking views most people get treated to from the summit.
Oh yeah, if you want to actually find the geodetic marker for the summit do NOT go to the viewing area where the crowds are. Go behind the little snack stand and up the hill where no one is, you will find a rock plateau with the geodetic marker.

Famous Cadillac
Nice sweeping views of the coast and surrounding peaks from the top of Cadillac. Lots of tourists, dogs and fat people up there too, who can't make the hike up. As a whole, Acadia area, though busy, still a great place to visit.

Nice views
Nice peak, lots of people. Lots of stuff to look at.
Repeatedly. One of the great things about Acadia is the scale of the place -- it's easy enough to hike right across MDI's tops in a single day. Always a joy -- such lovely rock...

Another NP Highpoint
I had wanted to visit Acadia National Park for many years; I wanted to see what all of the hype was about. I still do not know what all of the hype was about, but I was able to make this side-trip to the highpoint of the park (as well as the county). It was a short hike to the possible contenders. I also visited the nearby gift shop and more-popular lower hill which definitely has better views.
Took a little sidetrip to Acadia after hiking the "100-mile Wilderness." Spent a couple days hiking around the area and trying to avoid the burgeoning masses of windshield tourists that plagued the island. What an amazing area. Love the rounded, pink granite boulders surrounding the island. Great trip with an awesome sunset and subsequent sunrise on Cadillac.
A fun drive and ramble to the top with my wife. It's easy to escape the crowds, they don't go far from the parking lot.

Maybe Not the Smartest Thing I've Done
Look at that date. If you're looking for solitude, maybe hitting a popular tourist destination like Bar Harbor, Maine isn't the smartest thing to do on the fourth of July. Throw in near-record breaking heat and the only sand beach around (within the park boundaries), and you have a prescription for huge crowds. Regardless, we hiked very early in the morning and didn't see anyone until near the summit. The hike back down was crowded, even for the tough trail we selected (Cadillac West Face). --mark d.

Tough Drive!Heading back down to Massachusetts from Katahdin, we took the scenic route.
All said, it took roughly 18 hours to get from Maine's highest point the the Atlantic coast's highest point.
What a weekend.
