Route Climbed: Several winter and summer routes (favourite is Fiacaill Rigde in winter) Date Climbed: Several!
This was where my Dad took me on my first ever winter climb(Fiacaill Ridge) We didn't complete it because of the white out and very strong winds but now I'm hooked and have returned to the northern coires several times. Easily the best place to learn the skills in Britain but expect crowds!
Route Climbed: In 1997, the Ficaill Ridge, in 2003 Goat Track Gully and Alladin's Couloir Date Climbed: Feb 1997, March 2003
Went to the summit a couple of times after climbing in the northern corries, good views in 2003, 1997 was a complete whiteout, and I got blown over several times on the plateau
Route Climbed: Ascended the western flank from the plateau Date Climbed: March 2002
After spending a day with a guide and my university group we decided to head up to the plateau from corrie cas and from there on up to the summit of Cairn Gorm. Not a spectacular mountain to look at or climb, but it was my first munro and the views over to the other cairngorm giants were breathtaking.
Route Climbed: Fiacaill ridge, Ben MacDui Date Climbed: 17th August 1996
From the ski car park, along the path SW, then up the Fiacaill ridge. Enjoyable scrambling, all difficulties avoidable. Easy walk south across the plateau to Ben MacDui. Returned across ther plateau, keeping lower to get a view of Loch Avon, then up easy slopes of Cairn Gorm. Descended north via ski developments. Good to have walked to the summit at last - my first time at the top was as a small child having used the old chairlift to within 150m of the summit!
