I've done this one many times. It was a good way to wrap up the year.

Camelback Santa
Took the Cholla Trail up and down. Fun hike with great views of the city. A guy dressed as Santa awaited climbers at the top and gave out candy canes and took pictures next to a fully decorated Christmas tree!

Finally...
...did I get this after living in Phoenix for almost 2 years. I found a couple of hours on Thanksgiving to sneak out and climb. It was actually quite fun with good views.

Picked up Camelback while visiting. Tried to find an easy way up the Camel's Head, but didn't.

1st Time Up Echo - 20:27
Ran and scrambled hard today but couldn't get under 20 minutes unfortunately. It's a holiday today and super busy though, but I don't know how much of a difference it really makes. My wife made it up in 28...pretty impressive! Painful, but super fun and a beautiful day on top :)

Interesting
Took the Echo Canyon trail. Started at 5pm, 102 degrees. Lots of people. Interesting trail. 40 mins to the top. Great views. Stayed till the sun was down. Probably won't go back. Been there done that.

1st of Day
Took Cholla on wonderful 75 degree morning. Not super crowded but not lonely either. Got off trail by mistake twice ending in somewhat sketchy positions. Made good time overall and saw a road runner.

Such a bizarre and hot hike
Did this mid day with my dad during a short trip to Phoenix. Doing this in 100+ weather is a unique challenge. I much prefer my cooler mountains. I truly was not prepared for the heat but I persevered.

Made it under 20
2nd Climb Mar 30, 2013:
I set out determined to run up Cholla under 20 minutes this time. I was quickly stymied by the hordes of people that I did not encounter the last go around and basically gave up, thinking that it wouldn't happen. When I got close to the summit, I looked at my watch and was shocked to see that I had a chance. I re-doubled my effort and made a HUGE push for the summit. I got to the top and stopped the watch at 19:58 and sat there gasping and grunting for the next few minutes. Brit was supposed to go to the saddle in the same time so I started down for her, but she showed up only a few minutes down. I groaned at having to go back up but I accompanied her to the summit in just over 30 minutes (nice!) and we enjoyed the views for a bit before running back down.

Ran up to the top at sunset via Cholla in 21:38...pushed it pretty good. Haven't done anything like that in a long time. It was a nice follow up after doing the long run/hike up Superstition Peak yesterday. We had a fun time going down in the dark and enjoying the cooler temps. Looking forward to going back and doing it again from the echo side sometime.
Nice day up the trail, high winds obscured the views from the summit. Busy but enjoyable.

Run up Cholla
1/27/17 Busy day running up Cholla...getting stuck behind people several times cost me a sub 20 minute finish...ended up 20:13 on the way up. Wind was pretty intense.
12/23/15 Ran up easy with Brit, down hard in 11:33
1/19/15 Ran/Climbed up the new Echo Canyon Route in 20:23
