Loma Piedra Negra?
Climbed the neighboring Loma Piedra Negra? Not sure about the name. We did this neighboring peak in lieu of Carihuairazo. Cool climb, some easy 3-4th class on the summit...the really cool thing about this area is how untrammelled it is. Met some cool Andean locals herding sheep en route.

Normal Route
Made good time up to and over the glaciers. Annoying loose rock up just below summit ridge. Top of ridge very loose with nothing to anchor to. I brought (and needed) a grappling hook made out of rebar to get to the summit pillar.

Route Climbed: Normal Date Climbed: April, 2002Nice trek with excellent view of Chimborazo!
Glacier was in poor conditions. Near the summit there was just ice and rocks falling.
Went there again in Dec. 2003 but turned around due to bad weather conditions.
