From Temperance River Gorge
With Dennis Goldsmith. This is the best hike in Minnesota's Sawtooth mountains, in my opinion. Had forgotten about the tough section 2/3 of the way up. Third time up for me.

Temperance River SP
Hiked in and out from the trailhead on MN-61 at Temperance River State Park. Awesome hike, beautiful fall colors.
Took a couple on their first real hike of any mountain. Even though it was a MN mountain it was still a little over 6 miles round trip and about a 1k gain over all. Nice day, windy, with temps in the high 20's. luckily I brought my MSR stove to whip up some hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps on the summit.

A Striking Peak
Looked at Carlton Peak from Britton Peak, then hiked the Superior Hiking Trail to Carlton. After going to Temperance River and back, I was impressed by the sight of Carlton's rock faces from the west.

From Temperance River Gorge
An overcast day turned rainy when I reached the summit. The best hike option is to start from the Temperance River gorge on Rt 61. The gorge itself is spectacular, and starting there gives you a 3.5 mile hike with over 800 ft of gain. This mountain deserves it.

great climbs
Beautiful views of the forest and lake from the summit. A lot of great climbing routes as well. I took my first trad fall on lead while climbing route 16. A good 15 foot drop, quite the well needed and crazy experience.

From Britton Peak Trailhead
Nice 1.5-mile hike along the SHT. Plenty of prior foot traffic through the minimal snow made the hike easy. Interesting rock along the trail, skirting the north, east, and south sides of the summit block. Views of the Sawtooth range, Lake Superior, taconite plants at Taconite Harbor and Silver Bay, and the distant Wisconsin shoreline.
