Warm Winter Day
A boot adventure all the way to the top. Snow on all but about a 1/4 mile of the route. Enjoyed meeting a small hand full of skiers and shoers. Five people, two doggies, in all the entire day. A glorious view and plenty of afternoon wind at the top.

Local Peakbaggin'
Many climbs to this fun mountain with a great and diverse trail.
Decided to come up late afternoon and camp in a cave at top.
Bummer the 80 Freeway killed most stars at night but wind was minimal and the views/temp. was impeccable.

Quick
A nice day for a quick hike up the west side via the PCT. Mule's ears, Indian paintbrush, lupine, and larkspur were in full bloom.

Solo sunset hike
Quick solo sunset hike. First time to the summit and hadn't looked at beta lately, ended up opting for class 4 west side of summit block, really not a bad option.

Fun
Really fun scramble right near the hwy - I actually thought the true summit was less technical than the middle turret - collect them all!!!

December but minimal snow
Many parts of the ridge were snow free coming up from Castle Pass. Very windy up there but great views all the way to the coast range.

Castle/Basin
After first big winter storm hit a few days ago I wanted to get out in some winter conditions, first going up the 3 towers on Castle then over to Basin. Foolishly left snowshoes at home thinking the snow wasn't deep enough yet...that's how it can take over 7 hours to cover 9 miles... Trip Report
An early start because of monsoon season. On the summit by sunrise.

From 80
Extended the day by also walking to Basin Peak and Andesite Peak. 3 totally different peaks in terms of rock composition. East turret of Castle is about at my max comfort level but was quite fun in hindsight.

Skinned up Castle Peak, traversed over to Basin, then skied down into Round Valley. It was an awesome day full of great snow!

Central Couloir
Winter ascent of the central couloir with a team of six. Good location to practice roped climbing technique and pro placement.

Solo hike
3:20 CTC, which it not great, but pretty good for me. Probably coulda come in under 3:00 but I was very slow and deliberate on the summit block because I was alone. Cloudy day from the bay area up to the saddle, but hiking up the ridge I came out above the cloud tops and I could look down on the "sea of clouds.". I love that.
I climbed Castle as a side trip during my 2012 thru hike.

Good fun
Overnight backpack started with Andesite, to Castle, to Basin and down to Paradise Lake. Good fun and lovely setting at the lake. Really enjoyed the class 3 section on the East Turret.
