Route Climbed: Northeast Ridge from Dry Creek
Hiked from Red Pine Canyon. Traversed the south aspect of Pfeifferhorn. Climbed up the southeast face to the northeast ridge. The snow was deep and light which made for a terrible slog, but the views were great. My first time exploring that area of the Central Wasatch. I think the Hematoma Quad is the next goal.

Dry Creek Approach
Spent two cold nights skinning up Dry Creek with grander plans in the area. In the end I just wandered over and climbed Chipman with Foweezer and Marauders via the saddle/west bowl. Steep snow climb at the top!

July 31, 2009 -Walked up to the 2nd Hamongog from Alpine, then strolled over to Lake Hardy and on up to Chipman peak en route to the Pfeifferhorn. I love the views in the Lone Peak Wilderness!!

As part of the Beatout
With the Wasatch Mountain Club. This was a fantastic day in the Wasatch and we actually took our first real break of the day (or I should say my first break) on top of Chipman. It was nice to catch my breath and take in the views. This peak has some amazing vistas.

Part of Beat Out and Beat Up hikes
#1 6-2-07 Part of Beatout hike. From the saddle on the ridge north of Chipman the summit is only about 5 minutes away. If you're doing the Beat Out or reversing course, might as well see this non-descript and rounded, rocky summit. Beat Out was last year, I think, with the Beat Up from Sam Thomas Gulch on 7-8-08. #3 5-25-10 Part of Beatout hike w/ Dave & Christine in record-deep snow. #4 5-28-11 On Beatout w/ WMC. Record snow pack, winter-like wx. #5 5-20-17 Part of Beatout with WMC. Nice wx, slow times.

Beatout Side Trip
Nice side trip on the Beatout Hike. Good views of Utah county and Utah Lake.
The Wasatch Mountain Club has hosted the "Beatout" hike annually for at least 35 years. Chipman is a traditional out-and-back on this classic ridge run. Been there. Done that.
