Beautiful   Sucess!

Admittedly, I am not a climber, however, I did scramble up numerous spires while I was there. Great place with amazing history and scenery.

What a place! What a rock!

Week at the city...amazing rock climbing destination. Love the area including alma and the local hot springs...
Hoping for many more trips in the future, and will plan to avoid weekends or go to Castle Rocks if not too hot.

First time rock climbing!  Sucess!

I think I am going to like this sport!
Climbed at Castle Rocks, but no page at SP, so figured this would have to do.
Climbed "Poking holes through the firmament" 5.6 and "Fruit Pie", a 5.8-(according to Mountain Project).
The only question I have is:"when can I do it again?"
:D

"The City"  Sucess!

I just moved to Idaho from New Mexico, and this was my first time climbing in "the city". It was awesome, I love this place, I'm going to have to try to hit it while I'm living nearby.

Great Place  Sucess!

When plans for Sept 10 & 11, 2010 got cancelled, I took the opportunity to head back to The City. This time, day 1, we climbed Jackson's Thumb via the Theater of Shadows route, followed by Parking Lot Rock via Delay of Game, Anteater Rock via Scream Cheese, and Bath Rock via the Cowboy route. Day 2, we climbed Steinfells Dome via Sinocranium, followed by Bumblie Rock via Too Much Fun.

Sept 4, 2010
Climbed the following routes: Raindance, Reservations, Tribal Boundaries, Cruel Shoes, and Skin the Cat. Can't wait to get back to climb more!

Also went over to Castle Rocks State Park and climbed the Big Time Route on the south side of Castle Rock.

The best!  Sucess!

Late in the season but we had such a good time. We climbed at the anteater and a few other that I cant recall the names. We also did "big times" on castle rock which is to the north I think. Really want to go back!

Learning Grounds  Sucess!

One of the best places to visit in the entire state and home to most of my rock excursions. Started my climbing career here in the mid 90s and get back about every 5 years for a visit. I love camping and climbing and not having anything else to worry about for a few days. Water, food, rock, spirit... and how far do you think I have to go to that porta-potty from here?

Fun but dusty  Sucess!

City of Rocks is a fun place to spend a weekend. There are climbs for everyone. I've climbed Too Much Fun, a one pitch route that is 150 feet high. That made for some nasty rope drag, but a fun climb. Theater of Shadows is a great intro to multi-pitch.

Way back in the good old days  Sucess!

I first visited the "City" in '73 and came back later in the mid 70s and did several of the now classic routes. We didn't use bolts back then thus we left no trace of ever having climbed there. It made for some real interesting runouts, yes indeed.
