Started from Hoosier Pass at 5AM. Took East Ridge to summit North Star. Connected to Wheeler, then to Clinton, then to McNamee, then to Traver. Descended into basin and took 4WD road back. Back at car around 1:45PM. No wind and lots of sun. Actually started to pour, hail, and storm as soon as I got back. The crux of this route is the headwall along the ridge to Wheeler. This ridge rapidly changes from Class 2 to 3 to 4. Trust no rock because there are lots of loose holds. Also, lots of spider webs along the ridge past the headwall. If you hate spiders as much as me, it may make you turn around.

still some snow
the road up to Wheeler Lake is indeed rough- I was shocked to see some Jeeps and trucks (all modified) going up this road. It was not great for walking as a lot of it is under water right now. I was surprised to find snow heading up from wheeler lake that was fairly steep (I ended up using an ice ax to negotiate the snow on the way down). The basin above Wheeler Lake is actually quite beautiful (especially for the Mosquito Range). Unfortunately, the view of the Climax mine on the other side was not so great

Pseudo CT route
With Michelle. Light snow on ground, brisk fall wind on summits and ridge. Mostly sunny, no precip. I say "Pseudo" because I went up the east ridge of Clinton too early and climbed some other unnamed summit which was pretty fun and actually higher than Traver.

Easiest approach
A long day with the trudge up (& down) the road to Wheeler Lake. Ascended over the east false summit. Descended more directly off the south side. Centennial #66.

CT traverse
Still a lot of snow. Ascended via Wheeler road, which was heinous - deep puddles - not frozen in early am, patches of deep soft snow (had to carry my skies through this for about 2 miles), then could skin up.
Easy way up Traver, narrow snowy corniced traverse to McNamee, up Clinton, back to Traver and to my skis, pretty good ski descent (snow got heavy by the time I was ready to sk down), and the last 2 miles suffering of carrying skies though puddles of cold water, which actually felt refreshing.
Once up on Clinton, it was a breeze to do the next 2.
