"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

rippin it upgreat loop hike, easily accessible from south lake trailhead - climbed west chute, basically just an extension of the ridge formed by chocolate peak that divides ruwau and chocolate(?) lakes - then traversed ridge to cloudripper and vagabond and descended via green lake and then cross-country to the parking lot - great day out

North slope from Green LakeStopped by on my way home from a week in the sierra, day hiked from Green Lake up the pipeline. Came down the slope off Vagabond straight down to Green Lake, pretty solid but lots of boulder hopping better option if covered with snow.
Even tho the Bishop Pass trailhead lot was full (I had to park in the overflow) I only saw one other group the entire day.
Excellent peak with fantastic views of the Palisades, too bad it's so dry. Will be back for this one again!

N. SlopesSuccessful climb of Vagabond and Cloudripper, but was horribly sick along the way (AMS).

Route Climbed: NW Chutes Descended: NW Ridge of Vagabond PkWe climbed a chute that put us between Vagabond Pk & Cloudripper. I still climbed Vagabond twice, once when waiting for my friend, and again when we had to surmount it to descend the full NW ridge of Vagabond Pk. Our chute wasn't nearly as bad as it looked - the rock was for the most part stable, so the slog wasn't too bad, and the scrambling at the end was fun.

Scree slog from Seventh Lake to East RidgeHiked this from Seventh Lake via the East Ridge. The scree slope leading to the ridge is a fine slogfest of the first order. The ridge itself was nice, though, and the views from the top made it all well worth it.

Route Climbed: North Slope From Pass Above Green Lake Date Climbed: August 9, 2005Rest day from 2005 Sierra Challenge - the route from the col is excellent. Bagged Vagabond pk en route and went through some fun class 2/low 3 on the final NW ridge to the summit. There is a cool "secret" pipeline route from the South Lake TH that is a lot less circuitous and makes for an interesting hike. Great company on a great climb!

Route Climbed: north slope from pass above Green Lakes Date Climbed: 9 August 20051/2 day-hike, superb views marred by haze. We descended the north slope directly to Green Lakes, which I didn't care for due to loose talus. I took a spill and then stuck to the boulders where ever possible. The ridge from the pass is solid, firm footing.

Route Climbed: North Slope Date Climbed: July 10, 2005Great view of the Palisades. Rivals that from Agassiz. While panoramic, it's not as personal. Easy class 3 (couple of moves) to summit.

Route Climbed: E. Ridge via Baker Lakes Date Climbed: May, 1994Can't remember the exact date but this is where I got my E-Mail name. Only back then, you could only use 8 letters. Thus the funny spelling. I've also done it twice from Green Lake.

Route Climbed: North Slope Date Climbed: June 13, 2004Concerning Bob's summit log entry below, eight hours sounds more like a third of a day to me. :-)
The climb took longer than I expected, but the summit views were outstanding.
