Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) is a perennial herb from the family Asteraceae. It is also known under other names such as Butterbur, Coughwort, Farfara, Foalswort, Horse Foot and Winter Heliotrope. It is common near rivers, streams and roadsides. It blooms from March to May. The flowers appear first before the leaves. They have medicinal properties and have been used since historical times as a cough suppressant. The Low Beskid - Near the River Jasiolka - March 16, 2008.
