Some hard work getting up there, trail was not visible and deep snow.

Midnight hike
Hiked this several times but the most memorable was when my brother and I decided to hike the ridge line from Columbia Mountain to Strawberry Lake -about 25 miles I think- in the dark. We started a couple hours before sunset and got to the top of Columbia in time to watch the sun set in the west while watching the full moon rise in the east- amazing. We got to our destination by dawn the next morning, after having got lost twice and coming across bear tracks and scat- that was one really long night...

Columbia Mountian
Really got my heart pumping on this one. A great climb with great views at the top.
After breaking my ankle at the end of the 2012 season, I gave it a few weeks rest and then climbed Columbia with Kelly. Great hike, with a pointless descent very early on. My first view of the hungry horse reservoir!

Was a tough trek, straight up in quite deep snow. Very slushy and wet, definitely a workout!

Almost
Crampons were perfect for the ice packed trail. The last few hundred feet from the top, where the trees really thinned out and the sun was beating on the sun, was impossible without snowshoes. So close.....yet so far. Will bring snowshoes next time if I go this early again.

May Day Climb
I look at this mountain every time I walk out my front door, great feeling having finally climbed it. Heck of a climb, especially on snowshoes towards the top. Couldn't have asked for better spring day to do it though.
I've done this 6 times in the last 12 months. It's a great workout and nice views from the top. Each time is a little different in the winter near the top.

Columbia
Have done this one too many times to count.
One of the best, easiest access, exercise hills in the valley. When I have no real climb planed, its nice to take a run to the top to keep the legs from going soft.
Best ascent of it was this spring in the snow with FlatheadJim and other GMS members where I got some practice in using my ice ax. We glisaded down the gully. It was a rush.

GMS Annual spring tune up
Update 5/24/14: done this 9 times since 1999.
The local club, GMS, usually does this every spring for a tune up. Nice trip, good elevation gain and a ass kicking good glissade of about 1,600 feet down the gulley just south of the route. You exit the gulley right to a switchback in the trail at the 5,600 or 5,700 foot level.
Yee ha !
In the summer, it can be quite hot & dry as it faces SW; I stay away from it later in the day in the late summer.

Windy, foggy, sleet and coldIt was great - summit was really windy with chills in the upper 20's. There was about 2 ft of new snow and the summit was completely socked in.
