via Northeast Ridge
Great scramble, great rock, no scree. Camped at the lake southwest of lake 11388. Deviated from the ridge to the south near the top so as to keep the route class 3. Incredible view of the Palisades...

Up SW Ridge, Down NE Ridge
Climbed mainly for a nice sunset view of the Palisades from the summit:
Up from Knapsack Pass (class 3 along ridgeline, looked like some class 2 down on the north slope, but probably still some mandatory 3), then down the NE Ridge after sunset (had to drop off to the south side of the ridge a couple times to avoid what looked to me, in the waning light, like class 4-5).
Agreed--this is Class 3, with possible 4th class lines on the edge.

NE Ridge
With Suzi & Dave Syracuse. Morning summit from Dusy Basin camp, before hiking back out to South Lake. Great view of the Palisades.

NE Ridge - Class 3
Got stormed off of Isosceles Peak. By the time we got down to the saddle the weather had cleared. We continued on up the class 3 NE ridge of Columbine to the summit. Nice scramble.

From Knapsack Pass
Grabbed this one on our way out of Palisade Basin camp. While some old guide book calls this class two, I don't see how that is possible. Totally enjoyable and sustained class three. LOVED the views, the diving board summit block and the 1962 summit register hidden below the summit "board" in an antique, metal Kodak can.

Kept close to the crest and turned it into class 4 for part of the way. Beautiful day and fun scramble.

Traverse
Wandered up near Knapsack Pass, then traversed over to Isosceles, only to chicken out on the last "4th class" notch to the summit. Trip report

traverse
with Vendulka, up NE ridge, down SW ridge (screwed up the descent a bit), back to our camp in Dusy. Wonderful views.
Quick solo trip from Dusy Basin. Northeast Ridge (from Isosceles saddle) up and Southwest Ridge (to Knapsack Pass) down. I stayed true to the ridge as much as possible. It was a highly enjoyable Class 3-4 scramble; way better than anticipated. Unfortunately, the views were obscured by really bad haze that day.

Knapsack'dit
Four of us up the erete from Knapsack Ppass. Much fun. Liked the huge talus blocks at the top. Also same day I took the pic that is the marquee image for nearby Isosceles Peak.

Day 6 of the Sierra Challenge. Bob and I kept to the ridge--enjoyable fourth class in places, with tons of bail-out options to the class 2 terrain 20 feet to the left (one of which we had to take when the ridge finally became grainy, exposed fifth class for a bit near the top). This was more fun than Isosceles Peak, with some really good views too. Dusy Basin is beautiful.

A relatively easy scramble up from the saddle between Columbine and Isoceles. Great views, no wind, spent half an hour taking in the ambience with my brother and a good friend.
