Wintery Conditions above Col de Vernaz
From Thonon to Chevenne by bicycle, then hiked. Crystal clear skies and maybe the best Alpine views I've seen outside of the big massifs. Views of all the big western peaks of the Bernese and Valais, from Eiger to Aletschorn, Weisshorn to Matterhorn, Dent Blanche to Grand Combin, Mont Blanc, even La Meije and so much more in between. Met one other person actually on the mountain, best time of the year for hiking in the alps!!
Route Climbed: Chevenne Date Climbed: 18 august 1997
I made the ascent over the normal way and descent over the "Saix Rouquin", a rocky and steep couloir. It was my second ascend of the Cornettes de Bise.
