"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

East FaceVery nice climb (with Fred Spicker) leading to my first Cascade summit! Terrific views from the top provide ample evidence that the Cascades are, indeed, a major range in the Continental U.S. I mean, everyone always says that, but it's nice to finally have hands-on, visual evidence. Thanks for the great day, Fred!

Route Climbed: Southwest RidgeWent up the SW ridge from Black Peak, descended the east face. Scary downclimbing to get across the face, ended up sliding down a steep snow chute to get through the lower cliff band.
