In Spring of 2005 record rainfall and ideal temperatures produced an enormous display of wildflowers in the Death Valley- one of the hottest and driest landscapes in the Western hemisphere. These seeds of Desert Sunflowers lay dormant for decades before blooming. Photo taken on March 7, 2005.

Awesome Sight!

Death Valley is an amazing place, but to see it so out of character .. that must have been an awesome sight to witness. Thanks for sharing this great image! --mark d.

Thank you. It was an incredible sight to see wildflower fields there and Badwater as a big lake back in 2005.
