First Mountain with my dad  Sucess!

first 'real' mountain. scrambled up from the cabins just below the ridge where we were staying, tagged the summit and scrambled down. Good fun.

Good afternoon hike  Sucess!

Started up the trail with my girlfriend, returned from the summit with my fiance after a proposal and being called a "dork" at the top...No worries..it was funny! While that is true, this climb really was enjoyable all on its own. Followed local suggestions that snowshoes were not necessary, and for the most part, they were correct. The 2nd half of the climb did have a pretty well packed trail about 10" wide, but if a foot slipped (which often did) off the icy hardpack, it was easy to go up to our shins in snow. The wildlife along the way certainly seem to be comfortable with people, as we had to ponder if we should just wait for them to leave, or chase them away as they had no problem standing in our path on the trail as long as we'd let them....They apparantly didn't mind the snow flurries anymore than we did. Never did find the "summit" sign (or a 0.2 mile sign) as suggested by the rangers, however we did make it to the top. Once at the summit I was disappointed that the low ceiling made for very few breathtaking views, however I can imagine that it is quite amazing from that position in the park. Also was very windy once we became exposed in the open of the summit. A great hike, and we will return another time, hopefully with less clouds to see what we missed out on.
