Deer Mountain Trail
A nice, easy, hike with my wife. The trail was fairly snow free and incoming weather held off until we were down.

Mild hike with good views of Long's Peak. Nice choice for acclimatization.

Ideal to acclimatize
For a flatlander such as myself, this was a perfect acclimatizing hike for Mt Yale 2 days later.

Great View of Estes Park
I was on my way out of the park early one morning on my way back to KS when for some reason I had the notion to stop off and get in 1 more hike. It was very worth it and had a great view of Estes Park. Listed as "strenuous" at the trail head, it is actually quite mild. It was quite snowy in March 2007 so some snowshoes would have helped but most of the snow was packed.
Guessing on the year...though it was in the late 80's. Loved the panoramic view at the top. Be a nice horseback ride too.

Deer Mtn Trail
Started my day touring the peaks of Trail Ridge road with an ascent of Deer Mtn. Great sunrise alpenglow on Ypsilon and Longs. Even saw 2 deer, a mom and fawn, along the trail. Great start to the day!

damn snowshoers were faster than us.....lol
Snowshoeing it on this trail felt like a sauna compared to the Mill's Lake hike we took the day before. I thought I was going to freeze my bum off there -40 degrees or so. Down saved my Southern Californian butt on this trip.....for sure!

This was supposed to be a snowshoe, but the crappy, snow-less winter we're experiencing this year meant we carried our snowshoes the whole way while hiking on packed trail.
The views from the summit are just out of this world. I was pleased with this pleasant little hike. Hacking my way up with bronchitis, however, was not pleasant. My thanks go to my many hiking partners who tolerated my coughing fits. Partners: Ed's CMC hike.

quick and easyThe whole hike was fogged in, so we didn't get any good views, but it was a great wildflower season (because of all that moisture).
