Descending the long scree...

Descending the long scree slope S of the Buckhorn saddle to the Marmot Pass trail takes about 15 minutes, while the ascent takes 1-2 hours. While the lower 1/3 of the slope is sparsely vegetated, and the upper 1/3 has some outcrops of sharp, shattered shales, the central 1/3 is very loose gravel/sand scree. This is a view of the slope from the saddle (~1824m/6000') between the 2 summits of Buckhorn mountain, taken on June 9, 2002.

great photo

Spread the word. These are the kind of photos we need on summitpost. It is informative and gets me interested in the climb. First rate.

skipping?

Everyone except the dog looks like they are skipping down the mountain. Must've been a happy day or something.

Great picture

You should have just firemen rolled down that whole thing, it would have cut the 15 minutes down to probably 6 minutes....jk..
