From Bear Trap Fork and Mill D North TH and others
I have been on this peak a number of times, most recently December 22, 2018. Today it was very cold and so windy that it was bone-chilling snowshoeing in dogged fashion to the top. Several dozen skiers and snowboarders populated the summit and booted it single file from the top of the ski lift below. Accompanied by Nancy Martin & Lana Christiansen I enjoyed the entire experience in spite of the discomfort of the icy wind near the top. We started at the Mill D North TH and were about 6 hours round trip. Several inches of fresh snow allowed us to utilize snowshoes the entire way.

With Silver Peak
Nice hike up Beartrap Fork to Silver Peak and then Desolation Peak. Good early season hike to get in shape for summer peak climbing. Hiked with RDB.
Finished off our four peak day with Desolation. Love the views down Big Cottonwood from here. Was tempted to head toward Murdock but decided to turn around and call it a day.

Part of Wasatch Crest/Brighton Ridge run
I've been on top of this little peak many times, today being about #5 or so. I like the ominous warning sign posted there for skiers, a warning that YOU CAN DIE when plying out-of-bounds areas! Starting a climb at Bear Trap Fork makes this peak a natural to bag before heading to Silver, etc. #6 (?) 04-16-24 W/Lana Peak #13 in my 80in80 project. Bear Trap Fork gully all the way. Did Silver Peak afterward.

Especially in what's called "west Desolation." Very nice touring area that takes a bit of a hike to get to and usually doesn't draw big crowds.
