Appropriately, Sort Of Hellish
Took the loop trail out around to the east as described on the main page. Camped in a little flat area complete with hitching posts and a stone fire ring right before the point where one would leave the trail to bushwhack up the mountain slope.
Of course, it's not technically "bushwhacking" because in September in the Seven Devils no bushes are actually alive.
Summited easily enough though I had to retrace my route a few times (head up the rightmost chute even though the one to the left of it looks easier at first). Unfortunately, I'd banked on filtering water at some point and there just wasn't any. Eventually had to filter out of a tiny pool choked with dead moths (?) because I wasn't going to make it back to the car without more water. Everything turned out okay, but don't count on even the highest-elevation lakes in the area to have water in them in September.
From Sheep Lake over Belial and up the South ridge from the East
Camped at Sheep Lake and came over the He / She saddle. We took the ridge south of Belial and climbed the bowl to the south. Gained the southern ridge and climbed to the summit.
Route Climbed: Northeast Face of Devils Throne, plus traversed the summits of Mount Belial. Date Climbed: August 7, 2004
Attempted North Ridge, got spanked at notch, then rapped with 1 harness between the 2 of us. Traversed over to Face, and climbed up. Trip report here: Seven Devils Plethora.
