I wished I had brought an ax for the couloir, I would have gladly carried the two pounds instead of staring at the ugly run out, the pointy rocks at the bottom will stop any other unsurefooted minimalists. Be sure to leave early, the static electricity of mid afternoon was a bit too much for me.

Spoon Coulior
East coulior is also known as the Spoon coulior. 35-40 degrees
Route Climbed: Southeast Ridge Date Climbed: July 23, 2000
Even though Disappointment Peak is lower than all of the mountains surrounding it, you get an outstanding view of the high peaks with the Grand being right in front of you. The exposure down the west face is incredible. It gets less traffic than the other mountains too.
Route Climbed: Lake Ledges Date Climbed: June 26, 1983
Lots of snow that year and as said before the view of the east face of the GT is great. I prefered the Red Sentinel between us and the GT. Rapelled down some of the steps and managed to loose a couple of tent stakes intended for a carabiner break bar. Did the Dufler- not looking forward to the Dufler again..
Route Climbed: Southwest Couloir Date Climbed: August 8, 2003
Made this climb from our camp at the Caves on a "rest" day between climbing the Grand and the Middle. Offered some great scrambling and superb views from the summit of the Grand and surrounding spires.

Up the SpoonClimbed up the Spoon Couloir and down the Southwest Ridge. The lake ledges seemed to be buried in snow and wet. Great snow conditions up high.
