Nice TR. The North Ridge is nice because you can choose how difficult you want your route to be.
I actually parked north of the mountain on a little lay-by and walked through the bogs where farmers were cutting and stacking peat. They were quite friendly, and most will gladly grant you land access.
Did you visit Leo's pub nearby? He's the father of Enya and of the sisters of Clannad...the pub is where they began their career.
Yes, I did visit Leo's Tavern. Had dinner there one day: saw plenty of posters and platinum CD's of Enya's on the walls, but no Enya, and no music. It was too early, as I now understand. I would have had a better chance going later: 10pm to 2am, something like that. I saw Aoife Ni Fhearraigh in Huidai's Tavern, though.
