Dyer form Lower Iowa, W. Ridge scramble
Did this circuit with Sherman and Gemini as well. Was a decent day in September. Coming from Dyer doing the class 3 W Ridge made this enjoyable.
We took the upper Iowa gulch route down to make it a somewhat of a loop.

Iowa Gulch circuit minus Sheridan
Up to Dyer, over to Gemini, then Sherman. Clouds were building so I skipped Sheridan. Wish I'd done it - weather held. C'est la vie.

NE Face
A fall-like day on the mountain. Thought we would get rained on but we managed to get lucky and avoid it. Tundra was brown and crunchy - fall is definitely here in high country. Wanted to go over to Gemini but weather wasn't looking good. Nice views from the summit.

Iowa Gulch
A nice quick day for Dyer & Gemini. Scratched plans for Sherman & Sheridon due to the wind....imagine that, windy on Sherman.

From Iowa Gulch
Wife, dog and I. Looped from Dyer-Gemini-Sherman-Sheridan.
I visited the summit of "Mount Evans B" after reaching the top of Dyer Mtn. When I returned to my car, my car battery was dead..luckily I got a jumpstart from the only others around.

Iowa Ampitheater ski
Skinned all the way to the summit from the ASARCO mine, then skied back down. Really fun tour, corn snow up high, with a little boilerplate for the lower half of the descent. 4.5 hours round trip.

Lower Iowa Gulch
We started at Lower Iowa Gulch trailhead, went up Dyer Amphitheatre to the saddle, then up Dyer's west ridge to summit Dyer. We then went down the east ridge, climbed the twin summits of Gemini and then Sherman. We descended to the Sherman - Sheridan saddle and then dropped back down to our start point.

Traverse from Sherman and Gemini
Easy climb. Left the snowshoes and crampons in the truck at Iowa Gulch near the mine. (Used an axe during the descent occasionally, though.) Not much snow/ice yet. Took a short nap on the summit.

Traverse from Gemini
Dyer was a whole lot more inviting and fun than Sherman or Gemini. Thankfully, the snow was still sufficently hard enough so I didn't posthole (that much). Stellar views of Iowa Gulch and Leadville.

SE slopes
Layne Bracy and I had a pleasant hike up Dyer via the s.e. slopes. We were able to drive our cars up Iowa gulch to 11620' and could have gone farther. Dyer was too easy, so Layne headed to Gemini and I to Evans B. The wind kicked up ferociously and ate us for lunch. See the TR. 71/100 highest in CO for both of us.

Second time up Dyer, the previous week's storms left me with knee to waist deep postholing the whole way. I was hoping to go over to Evans B but the snow was taking too long and I had to get to work, bummer!

West Ridge
Climbed Dyer as part of a West Dyer to Sheridan traverse. The west ridge was certainly the highlight of the traverse. I thought it was fair to call the ridge 3rd class without descending much from the ridge proper, but there were plenty of fun 4th class to be found. I came across a few handholds that were on the loose side and one that was very loose. Getting down onto the small dirt-filled notch was interesting!
An Elk bugled when I stepped onto the trail in the morning. An elk bugled in the afternoon when I stepped off the trail and back onto the road. Never saw anyone that day; just heard the elk. Thanks.
