NV Co HP #9
Hiked up from Stagecoach Express. Numerous roads were closed to hikers higher up, but the Silver Rush trail brought me where I needed to go.

Snowboard side trip
Had been looking to summit this while snowboarding Olympic chair for the past few years. Finally on a solo day I explored and found you didn't actually have to leave Heavenly boundaries risking getting your ticket pulled. It was a fun experience climbing up the last few hundred feet from near the exit to firebreak. It ended up being the proper gear in my snowboard boots as I was plunge-stepping down to my crotch. Enjoyed a solo lunch up top with an incredible view of Tahoe.

Snowshoes all the way.
#1 5-27-17 W/ Yadahzoe parked at the Stagecoach chairlift, walked around a muddy area and then strapped on snowshoes which we wore all the way to the summit. This year there was plenty of snow; we easily followed wide open ski runs so as to pass under the North lift, pass abeam the base of the Olympic Express lift and then follow the runs to the Olympic Express top. East's summit is a 3-minute hike up from there. Most enjoyable. Time up was 1+42 and we were not hurrying. The descent took 55 minutes. We then drove to Virginia City and climbed Mt. Davidson. Bluebird day, light breezes.

Took the gondola and walked past all the adult play structures along a wide ski run/service road for 20 minutes to the peak. Aside from the view it was totally boring, one step up from a golf-cart tour of Disneyland.
Later on the day i did Snow Valley Peak which was much more interesting.

From Stagecoach
Afternoon hike up from Stagecoach in Nevada, visited Monument then over to East Peak. Followed a service road for most of the way up, took the ski runs back down. Very deep snow with hip deep postholing in some areas, completely bare in other spots. Ski runs closed for the season, didn't see anyone else all day. TR is HERE.

Heavenly sans Snow.
About 4 miles round trip, this is an easy, if somewhat boring hike during the summer, the ski slopes strip the wilderness feel a bit but still a nice hike and interestingly there was actually a summit register. My hiking partner for the day actually forgot his shoes and did the hike in flip flops.

Not much snow in October. But this was a long, long time ago before Global Warming, so maybe there was more snow than one might expect now. Trip Report.
