Great early fall larches  Sucess!

The views of Temple and the larches were one for the ages. Dusting of snow on summit area was also very scenic.

And then there were two  Sucess!

Two of our party dropped out along the way. It was their loss, as we were rewarded at the summit when the clouds parted and revealed a gorgeous view

Amazing Views  Sucess!

Had a great climb of Temple in the morning, so decided to add Eiffel in the afternoon. A bit of a slog, but the views made it well worth the effort. Trip Report

Larch Madness  Sucess!

This valley is amazing when the larches turn orange. Try and do this one on a weekday and enjoy a crowd-free larch experience in addition to a fun scramble with 5 star views.

Cloudy summit  Sucess!

Snowy bits and ice near the top. But fairly easy to go around. Clouds parted briefly on the summit to allow us the view.

Eiffel  Sucess!

I wasn't fond of the loose rock, but this one was memorable. Unbelievable views!

9 Peaks In 9 Days  Sucess!

This was the 3rd peak of our hiking extravaganza. We wanted to view the route on Temple before climbing it the next day. The two peaks together are probably the most scenic climbs I have ever done up to this point. It's hard to match the beauty of this area. Some climbers above us sent a couple of big rocks down the gully. I'm glad we were wearing helmets.

Normal Route  Sucess!

Just another fantastic day in the Canadian Rockies! Incredible views in every direction... wouldn't even know where to start talking up all the views. Mount Temple, the "Ten Peaks", Larch Valley, Morraine Lake, Haddo Peak, Sheol Mountain... okay maybe I do know where to start, I wouldn't know where to finish talking about it. I couldn't figure out where to point my camera next!

After running a race in Banff on saturday I decided I needed some more solitary experience in the mountains and headed to do Eiffel. Little did I know there would be thousands of people heading up the valley to enjoy the beautiful larches... the crowds were unbelievable. The views from the summit were incredible however and well worth it! Good view of Temple and Pinnacle, not to mention the very inspiring north face of Mt Fay which hosts a number of alpine ice routes. Took 5 hours for the round trip.

My first and only peak so far in Canada, and it was a very nice hike.

Thanks a lot to the group of American guys we met and took us with them (Needed to be at least 6 in a group because of bears...)!

Route Climbed: From Lake Morraine, Larch Valley Trail & scramble route Date Climbed: August 13, 2005  Sucess!

My first time over 10k and an absolutely amazing hike! More than worth the relentless switchbacks and scrambling. The scree was incredibly loose and dry which made for some tricky footing here and there. This was our final hurrah after 5 days in the backcountry of Banff and I am still reeling from it. We had the summit all to ourselves as everyone else was heading up Temple. Simply surreal.

nice variety in terrain, some snow from the shale part up to the summit so the trip probably took us a little longer.

Bad weather kept me on scrambles versus alpine climbs the fall of 2004. Eiffel is a short objective that can be done in less than desirable weather and thus I did it in a minor early snow storm. This scramble is well marked by cairns and I found it extremely straight forward despite snow and low visibility. The last bit was post holing with ice axe up a steep snow gully to the summit. It took me 3 hours from car to summit.
I would love to do its north tower, but like William says, there is little beta on it. If anyone is interested, let me know. Cheers.

William Marler and friend and fellow SP member Jonathan Stanley made the summit on September 6th, 2003. Excellent day fine weather. Too bad about the smoke from the Forest fires. Otherwise a fine day.
