I enjoyed that. Thanks for taking the time to add your experience. The movie was a nice touch too, especially as it was 1996! No little pocket digital cameras back then I would guess? I really got a good sense of what the climb was like. Nice work.
Of course congrats on making it to the top of the Eiger also! A mighty feat!
Thanks!
I am glad you liked it. I hadn’t seen the video myself for ten years when I got this modern idea to put it on YouTube. Every take was done without rehearsal:)
This climb is really something special not to be underestimated. And conditions can vary a lot.
Yes, I was pretty exhausted at the top of that long, steep and icy fixed rope. I cut the worst part from the film since I thought it to be too dangerous for the weak hearted to watch:)

Awesome
Wow - Another great read and sharing part of Eiger history. Very impressive and spellbinding.
Regarding the toilet, the local expression "Dont fall in" really applies in this case :-)
Congratulations and great report. So much history on that mountain and I share your feelings about Harrer's White Spider and not being able to get it the Eiger out of your mind.
..I too lost my sunglasses on the summit of the Eiger and had to take the Westflank instead of the South ridge. Not the nicest descent route... Good TR!

At the movies!!A great finishing touch to the TR.
Brilliant Hansw, simply brilliant. You looked shocked at times there on the climb but shit-yeah you did it alright.
Wow, meeting Heckmair and Harrer - what a bonus!

A walk at the foot of the north face may prove profitable in terms of sunglasses:)
