Greener than green  Sucess!

Two prior trips were rained out, but it paid off with a super green island on St. Patrick's Day. Met a humpback whale on the ride out and 5 island foxes. This hike exceeded expectations.

Was to windy for kayaking  Sucess!

The day was too windy for kayaking sea caves so I climbed the mountain instead. Found an airplane crash remnants while descending through some canyon.

LPC List Finish  Sucess!

Fun hike with great views all the way. The weather was incredible for January, although a little windy along the ridge. Thanks to everyone for joining me for my list finish and especially Yvonne for carrying champagne and OJ for mimosas on the summit!

This is a great time of year for this peak since the boat will most likely stop for whale watching both to and from the island.

Scorpion Canyon  Sucess!

Camped at Scorpion Canyon. Wind was very strong during the night, but the tent held. Campsites 1-15 were a little more sheltered. Nice hike up to El Montanon. I enjoyed seeing the waters around the islands where I participated in a large naval exercise in the 70's.

Ridge but not the tippy top

We backpacked from Prisoner's to Scorpion which crosses Montanon Ridge just a few hundred feet shy of the peak. Great views! The trail is very narrow and rocky and steep in spots (from the Prisoner's side especially).

Dayhike from Scorpion Valley  Sucess!

Camped on the Island and did several dayhikes, including this one. I would love to return some day or explore the other islands.

If anyone is also a birder out there, don't miss out on the endemic Island Scrub Jay- keep an eye on the oaks, mainly.

Amazing!!!!!!!!!  Sucess!

Did this peak during a archaeological survey trip. One of the most amazing hikes of my life. The views of the islands spreading out from the summit are insane. I lead the Lower Peaks section to this one. An amazing peak!
